This is the Web page for MASC 464 – AM at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA.

MASC 464 is an advanced journalism course.  Students are expected to already know the newsgathering basics and will be expected to hone those skills in this course.  The semester work will focus specifically on the following:

  • Writing skills for both the broadcast and online media.
  • Planning and storytelling across media platforms.
  • Interviewing and story generation techniques.

In this course, we will also examine the responsibilities and working methods of good journalists and the ethical and philosophical underpinnings of the news profession.
